Funding for food research
Funding for food research comes partly from various research-funding bodies and partly from the universities' own allocations. The distribution of the official funding is as follows: research councils and foundations like Formas, VINNOVA and Vetenskapsrådet finance 32% of the food research, universities’ own allocations contributes to 22%, EU-financed programmes finance 41% and Nordic programmes stands for 5% of the total official funding of food research in Sweden. In total, the official food research funding in Sweden is approximately 185 Mkr.
